. Randy Taraborrelli, who wrote the authoritative biography Michael Jackson: The Music and the Madness and knew the singer since childhood, says Michael’s new album is up to Michael’s exacting standards.

“The estate called me and said, ‘Would you like to hear the album before anybody else?’ and I thought to myself, ‘Yeah, I think I would like to do that,’” Taraborrelli said in an interview on CBS’ “The Early Show” Monday.

Taraborrelli called it it a “great album… It really shows you Michael’s versatility. I mean, this album shows, you know, his range in pop, R&B, hip hop, even a little bit of country.” After playing a snippet of the single Breaking News, anchor Harry Smith asked Taraborrelli to weigh in on the debate over whether the vocals are truly Michael’s.

“Well, you know, the estate did its due diligence in this regard,” Taraborelli said. “I mean, they talked to many people who worked with Michael Jackson over the years—artists, producers, arrangers, recording engineers—and they played the songs for forensic musicologists, two independent musicologists… Well, these guys actually analyze the sound, and they both came back with the same conclusion, that it was undoubtedly Michael Jackson, so I think everybody here did what they were supposed to do. The family had these concerns and they raised them, as well they should have, and the estate did what it should have done, which was to clear it up.”

“The estate and sony did its due diligence where the matter of the vocals are concerned and gave me a chance to review all of the evidence they gathered to prove it is MJ on Breaking News. I also got a statement from Bruce Swedien who was the recording engineer on ‘Thriller,’ ‘Bad,’ and just about all of Michael’s adult hits. He knows Jackson’s voice like no other recording engineer, and he confirmed for me that the voice is MJ’s.”

Taraborrelli added: “I was in the studo with Michael for much of Thriller and Bad and, actually, on songs going all the way back to the Motown days and so I know how he worked. He often laid down demo vocals, or ‘scratch’ vocals, with the intention of going back in later and perfecting them.

“The vocal on Breaking News sounds like a rough unpolished performance to my ears, not the polished and perfected and fully realized MJ we know and love, but MJ as an interesting work in progress.”

Ang.

(Reuters) - Recordings of Michael Jackson's voice on a new album being released this week were far from the finished article and required considerable digital enhancement, according to one of its main producers.

But Teddy Riley, who worked with the King of Pop on several records before his death, believed that "Michael" would go down as a classic, albeit short of the heights of Jackson's heyday in the late 70s and early 80s.

"I had to do more processing to the voice, which is why people were asking about the authenticity of his voice," Riley told Reuters of the first album of new Jackson material since the singer's sudden death 18 months ago.

The project has been mired in controversy since members of Jackson's family were quoted questioning the authenticity of the voice on some tracks and his father's lawyer said the perfectionist would never have wanted the music released.

"We had to do what we had to do to make ... his voice work with the actual music," Riley added in an interview.

"He (Jackson) would never consider it being a final vocal. But because he's not with us he cannot give us new vocals. What we did was utilize the Melodyne (technology) to get him in key.

"With the Melodyne we actually move the stuff up which is the reason why some of the vibrato sounds a little off or processed, over-processed. We truly apologize for that happening, but you are still hearing the true Michael Jackson."

Riley worked on three of the 10 songs on the album -- "Hollywood Tonight," "Monster" and "Breaking News."

The last two were recorded at the New Jersey home of the Cascio family in 2007, along with a third Cascio track "Keep Your Head Up."

It was these recordings that led some to cast doubt over the authenticity of the songs, although Riley, and record label Sony, have been at pains to show they were genuine.

PRICE OF FAME

Asked if he would agree to produce future posthumous Jackson material, Riley replied:

"If it was my decision, yes, I would be involved in anything that Michael was involved with. If they will have me I will definitely be a part of it. I'm here, I came out here to be a servant to my friend."

Among the topics Jackson tackles on the new album is people's thirst for fame and the high price of becoming a star.

In Hollywood Tonight he describes the real-life experiences of an unnamed friend who heads to Los Angeles aged 15 to make it in the movies, and in Monster he sings about the paparazzi.

"The Monsters are the ones who, when you're up they come to get you and they beat you down and when they get you down they go to the next artist," Riley said of Monster.

"That's their job, to hit you while you're up and step on you while you're down, and that's what he always said."

Reviews of Michael, which hits British stores on Monday and U.S. stores on Tuesday, have been generally positive.

It is the first album of new Jackson material since "Invincible" in 2001, and the first in a reported $250 million deal between Sony and the executors of Jackson's estate to release 10 albums through 2017.

Riley said much of the negative publicity surrounding the album came from people within Jackson's entourage who did not approve of the project.

"That don't just happen like that, that has to come from somewhere and where it came from was not a great place. It was from a family member, and some family members ... didn't totally get the last say so they kind of hate the project.

"So there you have it, a chain reaction, a domino effect that makes the credibility of Michael go down," he said.

"I am here to protect that, because I know it's him, I know it's great material, I know that it needs to be out, I know that the legacy needs to continue because he's such a great person, and there's more to come."

"Too many non-Jacksons involved in The Estate"??

Ang.

Keep Your Head Up, kunne såmen også sagtens have været et rigtigt MJ track i mine ører.

Jason Malachi's Long-Time Producer Spills The Beans
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=KRfzf8KT2sc

(Make of it what you will):
Tony Kurtis was Malachi's producer in his early days; JM mentioned him in a radio interview. Tony has now stated that he believes the songs are not sung by MJ and that Breaking News was recorded in 2009. (the acapella is lower than the regular BN.

Tony said about ICMI:
""I Can Make It" full version came from my last cd Tony Kurtis "E.A. Where It All Started" it feat. Dru Hill Ruff Ends Paula Cambell and more Jason was the only artist on it that had never been signed, i put him on it because i believed in him but what he is doing now is wrong and after all the talks we had about him oneday being on a record with michael i would have never thought Jason would have went out like this"-'

Some other quotes:

"I recorded the Jason Malachi records witch is why i know those vocals are him . I recorded him for 10 years off and on we never could get him as tight as Michael cause Michael can really sing Jason is tone def i use to make him song all the way through his verses even though i could punch i wouldn't to help him with his pitch. As you have recored vocals for over 13 years i have been singing for 23 years "

"Michael's kids are right that's not DADDY's voice as they said."
"How are you gonna tell MJ's mom what her own son sound like she knows"

"i'm a recording artist as well i'm not gonna try to build a career off of just telling the truth i'm not gonna go to the media cause i don't want money fame or anything i only want justice for Michael's music. Don't put out fake recordings of MJ and tell people it's him"

"About 2 years ago JASON bough his MASTERS BACK from me, all but "I can make it" cause that was a Tony Kurtis record he was just on it. But i still have copys of all the MASTERS. I recorded them i no Jason voice from anybody."

Jam2008, a MaxJax mod, told that he has been in contact with Jason for a few years.

"I asked Jason in November if he was singing on the Cascio tracks. He said "I can't confirm or deny anything right now." If he wasn't singing on those songs, he would have just denied it. I only shared this information with the team and a few others, because I didn't want to betray Jason's trust. But with his former producer coming out with this info, the time is right to speak up. The top is off the bottle, now. So I have nothing to lose by saying what I know.
